The image above displays a collection of bones found while hiking in California near Bodega Bay. The bones have been identified as a mole skull (large round skull cap), a shrew skull (very small skull), mouse skull jaw bones, and a variety of bones we assume were from the same animals. The bones were found near the nest of a barn owl and one can only assume that these were once the dinner of the owl.
The head of a pin was included in this photograph to give a reference to the scale of the bones.
